Working predominantly at the intersection of design and sculpture, Misha Kahn’s aesthetic has been aptly described as retro-futuristic manifesting in forms that range from large-scale chandeliers and tables, to wallpaper and tapestries. He continues to garner widespread acclaim within the design community while he captivates audiences at large with his constant experimentation with an ever-expanding list of unorthodox materials – from concrete, aluminum and paint, to hand-blown glass, grass, resin and more.

In 2013, the artist contributed to Bjarne Melgaard’s installation in the Whitney Biennial and soon after his work was featured in NYC Makers: MAD Biennial, Museum of Art and Design in New York City. The artist has presented two solo exhibitions at leading contemporary design gallery Friedman Benda including “Return of Saturn” in 2016 and most recently, “Midden Heap” in 2017. His pieces are also held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Art Houston (Texas), Corning Museum of Glass (New York), Speed Art Museum (Kentucky), and the Creative Glass Center of America at Wheaton Arts (New Jersey).

Prospect NY loves Misha’s fantastically cartoonish and nostalgic sensibility and we aren’t the only ones. He’s received commissions that range from Baby Dior, to installations for private collectors that include climbing walls for cats and an underwater playground. He’s been featured in a wide range of leading publications including W, The New York Times, Architectural Digest, and Surface Magazine, among others. We’re thrilled to present his entirely unique interpretation on a variety of homeware accessories – that will undoubtedly inspire the inner child in us all.

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Kahn was a Fulbright Fellow at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Tel Aviv. Misha Kahn was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1989. He currently lives and works in New York City.
